How to get Fort Collins opossums out of your attic?

If you are hearing animal noises, scratches and traces, chances are a Fort Collins opossum has made its way into your attic. Opossums are considered a large nuisance animal and the must be out of your home and attic. Repellents:

Another most common and widely used repellent is fox urine which is based on a commercial chemical.

Trapping:
Trapping is one of the best ways to get rid of Colorado opossums. Live traps are available on the market which you just need to keep in the attic for few days. Allow them to eat food from the baited pressure plate. There are many points in the attic where you can set this trap. This animal is quite easy to trap and when caught, you can remove them.

Call animal control:
If you have tried to keep all food and garbage covered and the Fort Collins opossum is still around your home, call your local animal control office and report it. The animal control officers will be able to suggest the next step to eliminate the opossum. Animal control officers will inspect the facilities to ensure that all opossums are safely disposed of.

Prevention Tips:

• Cover the top of the garbage:
The Colorado opossums come to the houses and gardens in search of food. One of the best sources of food for opossums is the garbage can. Make sure all garbage is properly sealed, both in garbage bags and trash bins.

• The fence of your vegetable garden:
Opossums are known for raid gardens of food, eating most types of vegetables. By building a fence around the plants and making sure the fence goes into the ground to avoid the burrow.

• Do not leave pet food outside overnight:
Colorado opossums are known to steal food from pets on the left side dishes outside. Since they are creatures of the night, feed your pets outdoors during the day and put the food in the evening. Leaving food outside will only attract opossums to your area.
